Pulau Komodo Masuk ke dalam 7 Keajaiban Dunia? Seperti kita ketahui bahwasanya tahun lalu Candi borobudur yang sudah sejak lama masuk ke dalam golongan 7 keajaiban dunia akhirnya harus lengser sesuai dengan kontes yang diadakan oleh New Open World Foundation bekerja sama dengan The United Nation Office for Partnerships yang berpusat di Swiss. Dalam kontes itu dikategorikan Obyek Wisata yang dibuat manusia. Sedangkan pemenang pemilihan tujuh keajaiban baru dunia buatan manusia adalah Piramida Giza di Mesir; bangunan Colosseum (Italia), Tembok Raksasa (Tiongkok), Taj Mahal (India), Kota Kuno Petra (Jordania); Patung Jesus Juru Damai (Brazil), Machu Picchu (Peru), dan Piramida Chichen Itza (Meksiko). Kemudian Kontes yang lain juga diselenggarakan dengan kategori Obyek Wisata buatan Alam. Obyek wisata itu secara natural dibuat oleh alam. Dalam kontes yang dimulai sejak tahun 2007 ini diikuti sebanyak 261 kandidat pemenang 7 Keajaiban Alam. Dalam seleksi kedua dimana kandidat terpilih sejumlah 77 kandidat, sebenarnya Indonesia mengikutsertakan 3 Obyek Wisata Alam selain Taman Nasional Pulau Komodo yaitu Danau Toba dan Gunung Krakatau. Namun hanya Taman Nasional Pulau Komodo yang mampu menembus 77 kandidat yang akan diseleksi lagi menjadi 21 kandidat di pemilihan berikutnya. Pemilihan 7 Keajaiban Dunia ini dilaksanakan secara online di web www.new7wonders.com. Kita bisa ikut serta menentukan peringkat kandidat Indonesia menggunakan hak pilih di situs penyelenggara.
